Precision-ground mandrels and hypotubes on brushed steel

Precision Mandrels

A mandrel is a long, precision-ground shaft used to form, core, or support a part over a length most pins do not reach. Precision Core Pins manufactures custom mandrels up to 12 feet long to your print in Orange County, California.

Made to your print

We match diameter, length, and end geometry to your drawing or sample. Mandrels are custom; there is no catalog for a 12-foot precision mandrel. Send the part you need formed or the print you are working to, and we grind it to size.

Grinding long work

We hold ground diameters as tight as ±0.00005 in, and we grind long work between centers to hold straightness over the length. Centerless, cylindrical (OD), ID, surface, form, and thread grinding are all in-house.

Common applications

Long cores and forming mandrels for molding, tube and bore work, and applications that need a ground shaft longer than a standard pin. We grind core pin diameters from 0.004 in up to 1.5 in, in lengths up to 12 feet.
